Which are the best Natural Herbs to Help People Sleep?
Nurtur Tea's Sleep Tea is made up of a unique combination of herbs, each chosen for their specific properties that help in promoting relaxation and sleep. Some of the benefits of the ingredients in our blend are listed below:
Rooibos - How does it help with Sleep?
Rooibos is a rich source of minerals like iron, potassium and magnesium, which are believed to help combat insomnia. Drinking Rooibos tea can help soothe your nervous system, reduce anxiety and promote a sense of calm.
Cinnamon Chips - What are the benefits?
Cinnamon is a warming, anti-inflammatory spice that supports digestion and stabilises blood sugar levels. This is important because blood sugar spikes and crashes can keep us up at night. By helping to regulate blood sugar, cinnamon can promote better sleep.
Chamomile Flowers - Why is it in our Sleep Tea Blend?
Chamomile is also known for its calming properties, making it a perfect addition to our Sleep Tea blend.
Chamomile contains apigenin, an antioxidant that binds to certain receptors in your brain that can help promote sleepiness and reduce insomnia.
Red Rose Petals
Red rose petals have a relaxing effect, helping to lower stress levels and encourage sleep. They also add a pleasant aroma and flavour to our Sleep Tea blend.
Nettle - What are it's benefits?
Nettle is a natural source of energy that doesn't increase blood sugar levels, which can help make sleep deeper. By promoting better sleep, nettle can help you wake up feeling refreshed and alert.

“I have Sleep Tea every night! Here’s my typical sleep routine:
- Eat dinner
- Boil kettle and let the herbs infuse for 3-5mins (a soothing ritual to do in the evening which helps to signify to the brain and body to slow down and get ready for deep rest)
- I find the tea is really satisfying and thanks to the cinnamon. it is slightly sweet so I don't feel like I need dessert
- The herbs are magnesium and iron rich so I soon start to feel the soothing effects of the tea within 30mins
- I fall into a deep sleep”
Night Time Routine & Rituals That Help you Sleep Better
Here are 5 things to know about night time routines & rituals that help you sleep better, including drinking tea:
- Create a relaxing environment: Make sure your bedroom is cool, dark, and quiet. Use comfortable bedding and invest in blackout curtains or an eye mask if necessary.
- Wind down before bed: Try to avoid stimulating activities like work or exercise for at least an hour before bedtime. Instead, do something calming like reading a book or taking a warm bath.
- Practice relaxation techniques: Meditation, deep breathing, and yoga can all help calm your mind and body before sleep. Consider incorporating these techniques into your nightly routine.
- Limit screen time: The blue light emitted by electronic devices can disrupt your body's natural sleep cycle. Try to avoid screens for at least an hour before bed.
- Drink sleep-promoting tea: Certain herbal teas, such as chamomile, valerian root, and lavender, have natural properties that can help promote relaxation and sleep. Nurtur Tea's Sleep Tea blend, made with a combination of herbs specifically chosen for their sleep-promoting properties, is a great option to try.
- Warm Shower before bed: Showers are recommended to help combat insomnia because they can help to relax the body and mind. Taking a warm shower before bed can help to lower your body temperature, which can signal to your brain that it's time to sleep. Taking a shower can be a relaxing and enjoyable part of your bedtime routine, helping to signal to your body that it's time to wind down and prepare for sleep.
- Turn the Lights Down: By reducing exposure to bright light before bedtime, the body is able to produce more melatonin and promote a more restful sleep. Turning the lights down is important for a good night's sleep because exposure to bright light in the evening can disrupt the body's natural sleep-wake cycle and suppress the production of melatonin, a hormone that helps regulate sleep.
