Healthy Inner Skin Beauty Glow Lemonade

Many shop shelf lemonades contain high sugar content and empty calories that can contribute to poor nutrition, weight gain and tooth decay. So why not make your own healthy lemonade elevated with herbs and nourishing benefits.

Can this be made in a more nutritious way?

The answer is usually a resounding yes!

This recipe creates a refreshing fizzy rooibos, ginger, peppermint lemonade that combines antioxidants that help repair cell damage, ingredients that help improve skin complexion, immune boosting properties and soothing effects for body and mind. The splash of lemon juice and sparkling water really revitalise your senses and supports your overall wellbeing. Caffeine-free, you can enjoy this unique fusion any time of the day with ease.

Ingredients:

  • 2 morning lift teabags or 2 heaped teaspoons of morning lift tea
  • 2 cups water to fill teapot or pan
  • 2 cups sparkling water
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4 lemons)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup honey or agave syrup (to taste)
  • Ice cubes (we put mint in ours)
  • Lemon slices and fresh mint for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Brew the Tea:
    • In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil or use a teapot
    • Add the morning lift tea bags/loose leaf
    • Remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes.
  2. Strain the Mixture:
    • Remove the tea bags/loose leaf and strain the mixture into a large pitcher
  3. Sweeten the Tea:
    • While the tea is still warm, add honey or agave syrup to taste, stirring until fully dissolved.
  4. Add Lemon Juice:
    • Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  5. Chill the Lemonade Base:
    • Let the lemonade base cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until chilled.
  6. Add Sparkling Water:
    • Just before serving, add the sparkling water to the chilled lemonade base. Stir gently to combine.
  7. Serve:
    • Fill glasses with ice cubes.
    • Pour the fizzy lemonade over the ice
    • Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint, if desired.

Tips:

  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey/agave syrup to taste.
  • For a more intense ginger flavour, you can add extra ginger slices while brewing.
  • To maintain the fizz, add the sparkling water just before serving.
