Pregnancy & Postpartum

The ingredients contained in our Morning Lift and Sleep Tea are safe to drink throughout all trimesters of pregnancy. We recommend drinking Red Raspberry Leaf Tea from 32 weeks onwards to help start preparing your body for labour and post-birth recovery. Nursing Tea should only be consumed postpartum in your fourth trimester. If you have any concerns, however, it is important to seek advice from a health care professional.

Please note, Nursing, PMS + Hormonal Balance and our Menopause blend should not be consumed in pregnancy. We also recommend you avoid excessive consumption of caffeine. It’s good to know all our teas at Nurtur Tea are caffeine-free.

Our Morning Lift tea blend has been specifically formulated to help combat the symptoms of morning sickness. The natural caffeine-free herbs of rooibos, ginger and peppermint, have traditionally been used to help common pregnancy symptoms of indigestion, heartburn and reduce nausea. It’s also a natural energy boosting blend that will leave you feeling revitalised and importantly help you get on with your day.

The ingredients contained in our Nursing Tea of aniseed, chamomile flowers, fennel, caraway, red raspberry leaf, marshmallow root and nettle are natural herbal galactagogues that have been used for centuries to help increase milk supply for mother. We decided to be fenugreek free as this ingredient can cause some unwanted side effects such as digestive issues for mother and colic in baby. We’ve had amazing feedback from women who have regularly consumed our Nursing Tea blend who saw their milk production increase, confidence boosted and symptoms of colic in baby ease.

Our Australian herbal Sleep Tea is also a complimentary tea in the fourth trimester as the ingredients used, such as nettle, cinnamon and chamomile flowers, help promote deep quality sleep and naturally reduce stress levels and anxiety.

Menopause

Our Menopause Tea is a natural remedy that can help lessen the symptoms of hormone change during perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause. Most people begin to experience perimenopause symptoms, such as hot flushes, vaginal dryness and insomnia, during their 40s and 50s, though it can happen earlier. Symptoms can continue in the menopause and postmenopause transition. Ingredients in our Menopause Tea, such as licorice, shatavari and chaste tree berries, have traditionally been used for centuries to help naturally reduce hot flushes, mood changes and other common symptoms experienced in these periods. Many women enjoy our Menopause blend on its own as a natural remedy or in conjunction to prescribed or over-the-counter medicines. However, we highly recommend you first speak with your healthcare provider about the suitability of our tea if planning or currently taking medications such as HRT.

Sustainability & Social Responsibility

We took great efforts to ensure all our internal and external packaging is either recyclable/biodegradable. We also offer a refill option for all our blends so we can ensure we are offering the most sustainable option for all our customers. We believe refill is the new recycle!

Our tea bags are proudly plastic-free and made from a plant-based material called PLA Corn Fibre. It’s compostable and biodegradable, right down to the sustainable tag that we use. The labels and string are heat sealed with no polymers or glues. You can place these tea bags in your home compost but they will take longer to decompose than the manufacturers recommendation of commercial composting.

Yes the clear pouches are made from a plant-based material called cellophane which are plastic-free and can compost at home. Simply place the pouch in your bin once you’ve finished enjoying your tea.

Our tea tubes are made of recycled paper approved by the FSA which can be 100% recycled. It was really important to us that we also created a reuse and refill option, enabling you to refill your existing tea tube with our tea blends. We feel this is an even better environmentally friendly option.

We really did our research into the most environmentally friendly packaging options and found the Hex Wrap honeycomb paper and compostable mailer to be the best available options. The Hex Wrap offers the same protection as bubble wrap but unlike bubble wrap, it is 100% recyclable and compostable. Plus it can be reused over and over again, positively contributing to the environment.

Our mailers are made from home-compostable materials, mainly corn starch and PBAT (a compostable ingredient which bonds the renewable ingredients together). To compost them at home, it’s best to remove any labels, cut them up and place in your compost bin as “brown” materials. These will completely break down within 90-120 days in a home-compostable environment - sometimes even sooner!

We are proud to have partnered with women’s health charity, Share The Dignity and donate 1% of annual revenue to help the lives of women and girls experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or doing it tough. Like Share The Diginity, we are passionate about ending period poverty and want to help women doing it tough have access to sanitary items.
